Community guidelines and moderation
In effect from 31 July 2026.
Uniland is a campus, not a comment section. The people you are talking to sit near you in lectures, and most of them you will meet again. That does most of the work, but not all of it, so here is what is not allowed, what happens when someone does it anyway, and what we commit to.
What isn’t allowed
Attacks on people
- Slurs and hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, tribe, religion, gender, sexuality or disability.
- Harassment, pile-ons, or repeatedly contacting someone who wants no contact.
- Threats of violence, and telling someone to harm themselves.
- Posting someone’s address, phone number, hall room or timetable without consent.
- Sexual content involving anyone who has not consented, including screenshots, recordings and images shared to humiliate.
Sexual content and solicitation
- Pornography and sexually explicit imagery.
- Paid companionship arrangements, in either direction. These target first-year students in particular, and they are removed on sight.
Dishonesty and harm
- Scams, fake listings, advance-fee requests and “double your money” schemes.
- Selling or distributing leaked exam papers, or offering to write someone’s work.
- Impersonating another student, a lecturer, a hall or the university.
- Selling anything illegal, or anything a university would expel you for.
- Health or safety misinformation presented as fact during an emergency.
Noise
- Spam, bulk unsolicited promotion, and engagement farming.
- Multiple accounts used to evade a block or a ban.
How this is enforced
An automatic filter, before anything is published
Every post, comment and listing is screened as it is written. Content containing slurs, explicit solicitation or credible threats is refused outright. It is never published, not even briefly. The filter reads through the substitutions people use to get around it, so spacing a slur out or swapping letters for numbers does not work.
A second, wider set of patterns (the shapes scams and exam-misconduct posts take) does not block. Those publish and go straight to a moderator, because the same words appear in entirely ordinary posts and having a machine silently delete a student’s writing on a guess is worse than a moderator reading it an hour later.
Reporting
Every post, comment, listing, event, community, business and profile has a report action on it, in both the app and on the web. Reports are de-duplicated, so ten students reporting the same thing produces one item in the queue rather than ten, and the count is visible to the moderator reading it.
Blocking
You can block any account from its profile. A blocked person cannot see your profile, message you or interact with your content, and you will not see theirs. From their side it looks like you no longer exist rather than like you have blocked them, which is deliberate: a block that announces itself invites retaliation.
What we do, and how quickly
We review every report within 24 hours, and act immediately on reports involving a threat to someone’s safety. Content found to break these guidelines is removed, and the account responsible is ejected where the breach warrants it.
The response is proportionate to what happened and whether it has happened before:
- Removal. The content comes down and the author is told which guideline it broke.
- Warning. Recorded on the account, so a pattern is visible to the next moderator.
- Suspension. Temporary loss of posting, selling and hosting.
- Ban. For hate speech, threats, sexual content involving a non-consenting person, and scams. Immediate and permanent, first offence.
- Loss of verification. An account that abuses verified-student privileges loses them.
Every decision is written to an audit log with the moderator, the reason and the time. Bans survive account deletion, so signing up again is not a way around one.
If we get it wrong
Moderation decisions are made by people and people make mistakes. Reply to the notice you received, or email safety@blacheinc.com, and a different moderator will look at it. If we were wrong we will restore the content and say so.
If you are in danger
We are a student platform, not an emergency service. If someone is at immediate risk, call the Ghana Police Service on 191 or the Ambulance Service on 193, and contact your university’s security or counselling office. Then tell us at safety@blacheinc.com so we can preserve what was posted and act on the account.
